Be it resolved that:
We the people of 2026 will look for beauty.
We will write down the good things about each other.
We will call our friends just to tell them what we love about them.
When it is we who suck, we will admit it and move on.
We will refuse to be manipulated into believing that we do not need each other.
We choose attention as an act of love—and of resistance.
-- Nadia Bolz-Weber
The future is analog. I’m telling you the more we know each other offline,
the safer and better off we are going to be.
-- Rachel Maddow
We have a big year ahead! Let’s spend some time together saving our Democracy. The midterm elections begin now. We NEED the best fighters we can provide to go up against this administration. This will be a real testimony to the power of the resistance party to get this right. We need action, decisive movements, people willing to be a force to be reckoned with, people with imagination and new ideas to meet this moment, people who will fight with us and for us! If you haven’t yet found your group of people to rally with please reach out and try to find one. There are many in the area.
The Democratic Women of Clifton and Northern Virginia is a great place to start. We have an upcoming meeting Jan 18th from 3pm to 5pm at Centreville Library. We are delighted to have the Fairfax County School Board Chair, Sandy Anderson, speak to us at our Annual General Meeting. She will fill us in on current and past issues. Please come with your questions and join us for this important meeting!
Sandy Anderson has been the Fairfax County Springfield District School Board representative since Dec. of 2023 and is currently serving as Board Chair. She is a Northern VA native, FCPS graduate, George Mason University graduate, former military wife, mom of two boys, and served on the PTO Board, often as President, at Silverbrook Elementary. She received her master's degree from the University of No. Carolina, Greensboro, and taught English for many years, which was followed by a position supporting two Department of Defense youth STEAM programs for K-12 at-risk students. Her current term expires in 2027.
The DWCNV also has a Book Club and Fun Bunch,. Try the groups out; people are better in real life!
