Deadlines

  • Voter registration: Register to vote or update an existing registration online using the Citizen Portal by July 24, 2026.

  • Early in‑person voting: June 18, 2026 – August 1, 2026.

  • If a local registrar’s office is closed on June 19, 2026, due to the state holiday, the office will be open for early voting on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

  • Contact your local registrar’s office for information on early voting and satellite voting locations.

  • Voter registration offices will be open for early voting on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

  • Apply for a ballot to be mailed to you: Your request must be received by your local registrar’s office no later than 5:00 on July 24, 2026.

  • Apply for an absentee ballot online using the Citizen Portal.

*If you plan to mail in your ballot, remember that the U.S. Postal Service has changed its process for postmarking all mail, delaying postmarking for several days. This will delay mail-in ballots, perhaps beyond election day, and prevent some from being counted. If you vote by mail, return your ballot several days earlier than you would otherwise to ensure your vote is counted.

See who is on your ballot by viewing the candidate lists.

Do watch for updated candidate lists following the April 21st redistricting amendment vote. Should it pass and shift the district boundaries, candidate lists for each district will also shift, as candidates are required to live in the district they represent.

But for now, if you are interested in which candidates are running in which districts according to last year’s District Map, you can find that information here: ballotpedia VA 2026 House candidates per 2025 districts. Remember, though, that these lists will shift in late April, provided our courts uphold the Redistricting proposal and provided the Redistricting Amendment is passed by popular vote on April 21st.
