Why Women Need Women For Resilience, Sanity & Survival
In times of uncertainty and turmoil—whether personal, professional, or global—one truth remains steady: Women thrive and survive when we stand together. History has shown that when women support one another, our families, our communities, and our societies grow stronger. Yet it’s also true that pressures, competition, context and cultural influences can push us apart. But we all need each other to survive the current times with hope and resilience. Today we’ll discuss how to not only prevent those divisions, but to celebrate and connect around them as well, ideally forming coalitions with other women that span across our differences and unify our unique and diverse voices.
Now more than ever, we need to remember that our strength multiplies when we lift each other up. The headlines are daily reminders of the need for this unification for women. With women’s reproductive rights being reversed, gender-based voting suppression, sexual abuse and sex trafficking offenses being justified and dismissed, constant gun violence against children in schools and women in their homes, and the decrease of pay equality over the past two years, women are faced daily with the brutal realities about their loss of basic rights and freedoms. Every single day, gender equity policies are rolling backward at rapid speed. The equal rights amendment still has yet to be ratified into the Constitution, 100 years after being introduced to Congress. As a result, women across our country are up at night, stressed out, and fearful of what the future holds for themselves, their daughters and their granddaughters. For all of these reasons, women need women. Now more than ever.
