Elect Ghazala Hashmi, Lieutenant Governor

State Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, a former professor with a doctoral degree in American literature, is the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Her GOP extremist opponent, John Reid, is a former radio talk show host. Virginia needs and deserves a candidate who is qualified to serve as lieutenant governor, helping to lead Virginia forward.

Hashmi believes that “Health care is a human right. Every Virginian must have access to affordable health care, including reproductive health care, safe and legal abortion, contraception, and low-cost prescription drugs.” She believes that we need to address physician and nursing shortages all across Virginia. Ghazala Hashmi also stands up for fully funding public education, stating, education has always been a top priority for me. In contrast, GOP talk show host/candidate, John Reid, does not support our public education system or affordable health care. He has repeatedly declined to answer interview questions on these issues. Still, his Facebook posts have called for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and for closing down the public education system and replacing it with school vouchers for private, parochial, and home schools.
