Elect Abigail Spanberger, Governor

When asked, during a May interview with Vanity Fair, where fighting back against the Trump ranks among her campaign priorities, Spanberger first discusses the new administration’s negative impact on everything from Virginia’s research universities to suburban Washington convenience stores and tattoo shops in coastal Hampton Roads. “I am focused on standing up for Virginians, and that means standing up to the Trump administration when their actions are hurting Virginia, Virginia’s economy, our workforce, our people, because that is the job of the governor of Virginia,” said Spanberger.  “My favorite thing is when the pollsters come back and they’re like, ‘Wow, people are really talking about the economy.’ I’m like, No shit. In contrast, Spanberger’s far-right GOP opponent, Winsome Earle-Sears, headed her campaign website with this statement: “Sears Stands with Trump, Calls Out Liberal Extremism in Virginia”  https://winsomeforgovernor.com/sears-stands-with-trump-calls-out-liberal-extremism-in-virginia/ She always stands alongside Trump, saying she is defending Virginia from the “potential dangers of becoming the next New York or Maryland.” Horrors! to the idea of Virginia adopting the stronger social programs already offered to NY or MD residents! While Earle-Sears has privately acknowledged that Trump’s federal firings have hurt her campaign, she continues to dodge, answering a CNN interview question regarding her support for Trump’s policy on massive federal firings, “If this is the way you want to go, then go ahead,” Earle-Sears said. “But I’m just not going to participate, because I want to talk about real issues. ”  Clearly, Earle-Sears does not understand the devastating impacts of the ill-conceived, DOGE federal firings on Virginians, and she will not stand up to any of the disastrous Trump policies.

Our children and our families deserve better than that. They deserve Abigail Spanberger’s leadership as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Early voting began on September 19, 2025.
