Women In the Workforce Meeting – March 12th

Women are almost half of the workforce and are the primary breadwinner in four out of 10 families. Women also receive more college and graduate degrees than men but earn less in virtually every occupation. According to 2015 data, women earn on average only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men and women of color fare even worse. Given these daunting facts, how can we position ourselves for success in the workplace and demand that we are paid what we are worth?

This DWCNV meeting will discuss strategies for working women including successful salary negotiations, to creating a strong LinkedIn profile, to developing a robust professional network. Break the cycle of gender pay inequality and earn what you deserve, one negotiation at a time. Learn strategies and tactics that are taboo to discuss at work with a supportive group of women – and share with friends, daughters, nieces…or better yet, bring them along!

Meeting will be held on Sunday, March 12th from 3-5 p.m. at the Clifton Community Hall, 12641 Chapel Rd., Clifton, VA. All Democratic women from Northern Virginia and their guests are welcome to attend.
