Meeting on the Environment – April 23rd

Join us on Sunday, April 23rd , 3-5 p.m. for our annual General Meeting on the Environment: Threats to Environmental Regulation and Bedrock Conservation Laws, at the Clifton Community Hall, 12641 Chapel Rd., Clifton, VA 20124. All Democratic women from Northern Virginia and their guests are invited to attend.

The presentation will cover some of the national issues affecting conservation in the U.S. and will cover rollbacks or environmental regulations and threats to bedrock conservation laws such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Antiquities Act and the National Environmental Policy Act — and what that means. Included in the discussion will be ways to influence government nationally and locally and also ways to volunteer and advocate locally or make a difference in your own backyard through environmental stewardship to help local flora and fauna.

The meeting will also include an update on the conversation for a carbon tax to reduce the production of CO2 with a free market approach.

The presenter will be Michael Reinemer, Deputy Communications Director at The Wilderness Society where he works on campaigns to strengthen public policy governing public lands nationwide with a focus on issues affecting the Southern Appalachians and New England. He is also involved in local conservation groups as a volunteer.

The following Saturday, April 29th, is the Climate Change March in Washington, DC. DWCNV will be participating and will have updates on the march, transportation and signs soon.
