Holiday Projects 2016

The Democratic Women of Clifton and Northern Virginia (DWCNV) kicked off it’s annual Holiday Giving Projects Meeting on Sunday, November 13th. There is still time for you to make a donation!

Two organizations were chosen by the DWCNV to be the recipients of donations – Britepaths and Fairfax Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue

The general public is invited to donate to these two worthy causes. All donations are tax deductible.

Donations to Britepaths, a local nonprofit organization that provides assistance to Northern Virginia families experiencing financial hardship, will be distributed to the families in January. Grocery store gift cards of any denomination as well as checks for the organization to purchase cards, should be made out to Britepaths and sent to: DWCNV, P.O. Box 143, Clifton, VA 20124. You may donate until Dec. 31, 2016 for January delivery.

The Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue organization is asking for toys for underprivileged children throughout Northern Virginia. These donated gifts will be the only ones many of the children receive for Christmas. The toy drive is the highlight of the holiday season for both the first responders and the young gift recipients. Unwrapped, new toys for children of all ages, and gift cards for older children from stores like Target, Best Buy or Old Navy, would be appreciated.

In addition to toys and gift cards, Firefighters and Friends to the Rescue will accept monetary donations to purchase new coats for area children. Each year the department distributes as many as 2,500 new coats to schools, shelters, and nonprofits throughout Fairfax and Alexandria. These new coats cost $30, are made in the U.S.A and purchased at a discount. You may make out a check to: Fairfax Firefighters to the Rescue and mail to DWCNV, P.O. Box 143, Clifton, VA 20124. The toy and winter coat distribution will occur on December 12th. Donations will be accepted for this year’s event until December 2nd.
